This rustic copper chain necklace is made with oval cable chain that is 100% copper. The links are soldered closed, which is very hard to find in a copper chain. The width is 3.8 mm. It comes with your choice of clasp. You can adjust the length by fastening it shorter.

It's shiny copper when new, but quickly turns that beautiful aged copper color. You will notice in some pictures the chain is shiny, but in others it has already started to turn. This chain looks great with my copper wire-wrapped fused glass pendants.

Most copper chains you find are called "copper finish", which actually means they are some sort of base metal chain that has a finish to look like copper. Real 100% copper chains are much harder to find. As a matter of fact, I have been unable to source real copper spring ring clasps, so the spring ring clasp I have used is "copper finish" (steel or brass) instead of 100% copper. If you would like a real copper clasp, choose the hook clasp option.

The other thing about copper chains is that the majority of them have open links. Not only are the links open, but the opening in each link is at the end, where all the stress will be. This means that at some point these links may work their way open, and the chain will fall apart. That will not happen with this chain since each link has been soldered closed. This, and the fact that it is solid copper, is what makes this chain more expensive than many others.

Copper is believed to be very helpful for alleviating pain from arthritis.

The 3.8 mm width of this chain is between 1/6 and 1/7 of an inch, which is a nice medium weight, not too large or too small. The last picture shows it with one of my larger (1 x 1.5") pendants, the pendant is not included.

I buy this chain in bulk from a supplier in the USA and finish it here. The bulk chain is manufactured in Mexico. So, to the best of my knowledge, the correct term is that this is Assembled in the USA.
