Art Deco meets Tribal in these stunning sterling silver earrings with golden real pearl accents. The sterling silver marquise-shaped dangles are my own design. They are topped with real horizontal gold stick (or biwa) pearls. The picture shows them with 14K gold-filled ear wires, but you can also opt for sterling silver (including interchangeable lever backs) or niobium.
I made the sterling silver marquise shapes out of metal clay. The design is my own original design that I drew with a ballpoint pen. I added a light liver of sulfur patina, that has a slight golden color. After polishing, I protected it with jewelers' wax.
The pearls are genuine cultured freshwater. They are commonly referred to as "Biwa" but they are not technically Biwa because they did not come from Lake Biwa. I bought these on one of my trips to Shanghai, and they probably are from the Suzhou area. Freshwater pearls do not normally come in gold, so these pearls have been either dyed or irradiated to give them their beautiful golden color.
The ear wires shown in the picture are 14K gold filled. I make these myself, and they have a little curl at the bottom where the dangle is attached to make them look more artisan and slightly whimsical. You can choose ear wires at checkout including these gold-filled, sterling, or interchangeable lever backs in either sterling or gold-filled. Changing ear wires may slightly change the length of the earrings.
