Artisan Oak Leaf Toggle Clasp, Sterling Silver

This handmade sterling silver toggle clasp is shaped like an oak leaf. I individually make each clasp by hand, using a leaf mold I made myself. I've added a patina to show the detail in the leaf. This clasp will be the finishing touch to make your necklace a one of a kind work of art! Each toggle is signed my me on the back along with the .925 mark to indicate that it is sterling.

This clasp is made from sterling silver metal clay. That's clay made from microscopic bits of metal. I roll the clay out and into the leaf mold. I have to cut each leaf out individually. Then I cut out the circle in the leaf for the clasp. After drying and sanding, the leaf is fired. The high temperatures burn away all the organic binder in the clay, leaving only the metal.

The bar portion of the clasp is made from twisted sterling silver wire. Then I solder jump rings on to both parts of the clasp so you can attach it to your design.

I finish the clasp by adding the dark colored patina, which brings out the detail in the leaf. Then it gets tumbled to shine it up and harden the metal. Finally I put on a coat of jewelers wax to help keep it from tarnishing.

Since each clasp is individually handmade, no two will be exactly alike. Please allow up to two weeks for me to make one just for you. (If you need it sooner, please message me to find out if I have any in stock.)
