This handmade shell pendant necklace is in gorgeous shades of subtle pink and silver. The focal piece of pink zebra jasper is carved into a shell. Since it is the only one I have, this necklace is a one-of-a-kind (OOAK) piece of jewelry. I have added matching pink zebra jasper beads and various kinds of genuine cultured freshwater pearls. I finished it off with a beautiful spiral clasp made of sterling silver. This artisan gemstone necklace is very versatile and can go from casual to dressy. It would look good with a scoop neck or a v neck.
Pink zebra jasper is a mottled pink and grey, very pretty. To the best of my knowledge, this is its natural color. Pink zebra jasper is believed to bring contentment. I have added four matching large oval pink zebra jasper beads. There is a little crack on the back of the shell pendant that has been there since I bought the bead years ago. I do not think it affects the stability of the bead.
In addition to the zebra jasper, I added dark silver keshi pearls, baroque pearls, and small near round white pearls. All the pearls are genuine cultured freshwater pearls that I have imported myself from either the Shanghai or Suzhou area of China.
I also added a couple of small oxidized sterling silver beads for an accent.
The clasp is one that I purchased - it is an oxidized double sterling silver spiral with two hooks. The spiral is an ancient symbol, usually representing the cycle of life, fertility, and the female. This clasp was made in Israel.
Eastern cultures believe that pearls, especially white pearls, symbolize purity. Black pearls symbolize wealth. The white pearls in this necklace are their natural color, but the dark silver ones are either dyed or irradiated to obtain that beautiful shade of dark silver.
